Price-aware basic heating

Basic heating keeps a room inside the configured temperature range. Electricity price affects operation only within that safe range.

Set it up in five steps

  1. Add a temperature sensor to the room and verify that its reading updates.
  2. Add a controllable relay or relay-controlled radiator to the room. Fixed electrical work belongs to a qualified electrician.
  3. Create a Basic heating zone, select the room and attach the relays to control.
  4. Set a lower and upper limit. They always take priority: price never overrides them.
  5. Choose a price mode, enable the zone and follow the latest decision explanation for the first few days.

Settings

  • The lower limit starts heating for safety.
  • The upper limit stops heating.
  • Price mode can be off, comfort, balanced or savings.

Safe operation

Control compares the current price with the next 12 hours. If a temperature reading is stale or implausible, relay control fails safe to off. The same relay or heat-pump topic can be owned by only one heating controller.

When should I choose this?

Choose price-aware basic heating when you want a clear temperature range and moderate price response without a forecasting model. If you need weather forecasts, a thermal home model and a longer optimisation plan, explore Hybrid MPC.
